Westhampton Beach High School junior Dagny Beasley is transforming her personal journey with anxiety into a mission to inspire change. A dedicated member of the girls lacrosse team, Dagny partnered with Morgan’s Message—a nonprofit committed to ending the stigma surrounding mental health in athletics—to raise both awareness and funds for mental health initiatives.
On May 2, during a home game against Rocky Point, the team held a special awareness event in support of the cause. Junior varsity players set up a table where spectators and young fans could decorate “kindness rocks”—small stones featuring positive and encouraging messages—promoting hope, kindness, and emotional well-being. The initiative not only contributed to fundraising efforts but also encouraged meaningful conversations about mental health throughout the school community.
Dagny’s advocacy reflects a larger movement among student-athletes to prioritize mental wellness and support one another beyond competition. Her leadership is helping create a team culture that embraces openness, empathy, and support when it comes to mental health.
