Students from Westonka High School’s BIG 3 recently came together to support one of their community’s favorite summer traditions, the Spirit of the Lakes Festival.
Members of Westonka National Honor Society, DECA, and Student Senate volunteered their time to help host games and activities during the festival, creating a fun and welcoming experience for community members of all ages.
The collaboration brought together student leaders from several different school organizations, demonstrating the impact that can be made when young people work together in service of their community.
By helping run activities and support the festival, the students played an important role in making the event successful while also strengthening the connection between Westonka High School and the surrounding community.
Service opportunities like this allow students to build leadership, teamwork, and communication skills while giving back to the community that supports them throughout the year.
