About:
Students at Winthrop Avenue School in the Bellmore Public School District went green for Earth Day by planting a tree outside the school.
A young tree now stands at the front of the Winthrop Avenue building to the north of the main entrance. Students in the Advisory Council helped plant the tree, which was donated by the PTA, by each placing a ceremonial shovel full of dirt around the tree.
The tree will be a proud reminder for students to think with nature in mind throughout the year.
