NEW HYDE PARK, N.Y. (Nov. 15, 2016) – Over the weekend, the LIU Post women’s lacrosse team lent a hand at the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island in New Hyde Park.
The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island is a home-away-from-home for the families of children receiving medical care at Cohen Children’s Medical Center.
The Pioneer student-athletes donated $200 worth of food, and cooked breakfast for the families of ill children.
“Having the opportunity to make a difference in someone’s day is such a remarkable feeling,” said LIU Post student-athlete Jenna Doherty. “It was an amazing experience to volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House. Being there made me realize that little things such as simply smiling at someone can brighten their day.”
“The Ronald McDonald was a very rewarding experience,” said Pioneers’ senior Cara Douglas. “I have been to the house in the past, but this time was better than most. We made a brunch for the house and had a great experience in doing so. It is nice to give back to the community in such a special way. My team and I really enjoyed our time at the Ronald McDonald House and we cannot wait to return again.”
