About:
Sachem students are participating in the annual Make-A-Wish letter writing campaign to benefit the foundation this holiday season. At Cayuga Elementary School, students of all grade levels wrote letters detailing their wishes for children with various illnesses who are supported by Make-A-Wish. They dropped their letters off in a red mailbox in the school lobby. Every year, Macy’s pledges to make a donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation for each letter that is received. Teacher Tina-Marie Mikos spearheads the initiative at Cayuga annually. This year, students watched a video detailing how their efforts positively impacted several Make-A-Wish children from last year’s initiative.
Similarly, students in Zachary Metz’s health classes at Seneca Middle School are writing wishes. They have been writing letters about several topics including their goals for the new year and things they are looking forward to this holiday season. This year, the students at Seneca Middle School have set a goal of raising $3,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation through this Macy’s partnership.
The activity aligns with the true meaning of the holiday season and teaches students of all ages about the importance of giving.
