Students in the Wyandanch Union Free School District’s Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School recently raised $900 to donate to Ukrainian relief efforts through the Ukrainian Red Cross.
The fundraiser, facilitated by the school’s One World Club and Student Government, was conducted for the months of March and April.
The fundraiser concluded with a ceremony in which Mr. Joe Carvin, founder and executive director One World United, recognized the students and teachers for their efforts and gave special thanks to the class which raised the most money.
Mr. Carvin then announced he would be matching the donation for the Ukrainian Red Cross bringing the total amount to $1,800.
