Yorktown and Lakeland Football to Honor First Responders and Support the Dan O’Connor Foundation

Yorktown High School and Lakeland High School will come together tonight for a meaningful evening of football, remembrance and community support as they recognize First Responders Night and Dan O’Connor Foundation Night.

The game, set for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff at Yorktown High School, comes as communities across New York prepare to mark the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.

For many, the anniversary is a time to reflect not only on the tragedy of that day, but also on the extraordinary unity, courage and service that followed. Neighbors supported one another, strangers stepped forward to help, and first responders demonstrated remarkable bravery in the face of unimaginable circumstances.

That message carries special importance for today’s students, many of whom were born years after September 11. Events like this help create opportunities to teach a new generation about the lives lost, the sacrifices made, and the lasting impact the attacks had on families and communities.

Tonight’s game will also recognize the Dan O’Connor Foundation, bringing together student-athletes, families and community members around a shared message of remembrance, gratitude and service.
