Members of Finley Middle School’s National Junior Honor Society and Student Council raised $400 to help support the fight against breast cancer. The students sold pink bracelets to raise money for the American Cancer Society and its Making Strides against Breast Cancer campaign in recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The faculty and staff joined in by wearing pink on Oct. 2 and making donations to the cause.
The students finished their fight by taking part in Making Strides of Eastern Long Island Walk at Dowling College on Oct. 4. The students participated in different activities and joined hundreds of other supporters in helping to end the fight against breast cancer.
Every dollar raised by Finley’s students will help to fund scientific research on the causes of breast cancer, support patient services, provide community outreach and education efforts and fund the American Cancer Society’s programs.
