Smithtown Girls Lacrosse Holding the first Cynthia Prag game

May 11, 2015 By Team Up 4 Community

The Cynthia Prag Scholarship Fund game will be played by the Smithtown West Varsity Girls Lacrosse Team on May 12, 2015. The game will be held on the Smithtown West athletic turf field at 5 p.m. A dedication in Cynthia’s honor will be made at the start of the game.

Cynthia was a Smithtown High School West graduate of 2010 and attended Oneonta State University, where she played two years of collegiate lacrosse. As an avid soccer and lacrosse player, Cynthia embodied the qualities of team work, sportsmanship, and passion.

Although a fierce competitor, Cynthia’s warm and embracing spirit is what truly makes her memorable. With this scholarship dedicated, they intend to continue to remember Cynthia as the beautiful person and strong athlete she was. Cynthia passed away on October 9, 2014 in a car accident.

The team decided they wanted to have a game each year honoring her and to raise money for a scholarship in her name given to a senior girls lacrosse player.

NY Live, an organization who promotes organ donation, will be at the game with a tent promoting and explaining organ donation.

Cynthia’s family donated 8 of her organs to patients who were on the organ donation list and it is an organization which is very important to her family.

The team is expecting quit a few alumni, family, and friends of Cynthia in attendance. They hope you can come to the beginning of their game vs Lindenhurst at 4:45pm.

Those who attend, please support Cynthia by wearing Rainbow items of clothing!

The recipient of the Cynthia Prag Scholarship will be awarded at the end of season awards ceremony by Head Coach Carrie Bodo.
