BETHLEHEM, Pa. – 4am is not the typical wake-up time for most college student-athletes … but on Sunday September 7th Northampton student-athletes and coaches were up taking part in pre-race preparations for the Via Marathon.
Three groups of student-athletes were stationed at different points along the race course setting up various items, including a medical tent at the finish line in Easton, and hauling supplies and other necessities to the course.
Volunteering for the Via Marathon has become an annual event for Northampton student-athletes, dating back to the Fall of 2008. “It is actually something the student-athletes really enjoy,” commented Associate Athletic Director Adrian Yaguez, “I’m not sure they enjoy getting up, but once we get here and get working they take a lot of pride in what they are doing.”
