On Monday, the LIU Post volleyball team made a difference by teaming up with Meals from the Heart to feed hungry families on Long Island.
The Pioneer student-athletes assisted in packing 200,000 meals for Island Harvest, which delivers food to local pantries, soup kitchens and other non-profit organizations that offer feeding services for those in need.
“No matter how tough you think your life is, there is always someone who has to face challenges that are tougher than yours,” said freshman Kassie Akouri-Tejedor (North Miami Beach, Fla.). “It feels great to give back and realize that you have made a significant change in someone’s life.”
“It was an amazing experience to work with my teammates to help people in need,” stated fellow freshman Lea Brady (Woodbridge, Va.). “I would like to keep going back and continue to make a difference in people’s lives.”
