East Rockaway High School students walked to help find a cure for Lupus on Oct. 18 at Eisenhower Park.
This is the seventh year East Rockaway High School’s team Jennifer’s Circle has participated in the event. The team, which was organized by teacher Joyce Loftus, consisted of many seventh-graders, as well as students from the Builders Club and National Honor Society.
Students earned community service hours and experienced the wonderful feeling of helping others. The team has raised approximately $1,000 and continues to collect donations.
Loftus expressed her gratitude to school district bus driver Jimmy Lores, who graciously donated his time, for the fourth straight year, to transport 30 students to the event. She also thanked Robert Kennedy, co-adviser to the National Honor Society, who volunteered his time to ride on the bus with the students.
