The Acton-Boxborough community came together for a night of spirit, unity, and purpose as two incredible events — Tackle Cancer and Cheerleader for a Night — took place at Leary Field.
Both events raised awareness and honored those who are currently battling, have survived, or have been lost to cancer. The evening also served as a powerful fundraiser, with 100 percent of proceeds donated to the American Cancer Societyto support life-saving research and patient programs.
During the game, the AB Football team dedicated their performance to the fight against cancer, while AB Cheerwelcomed students in grades 2–6 to join in the fun through the Cheerleader for a Night program. Participants learned cheers, practiced stunts, and experienced the excitement of performing under the lights — all while supporting a meaningful cause.
In partnership with Tackle Cancer Night, 50 percent of proceeds from Cheerleader for a Night were donated to the American Cancer Society, showing how teamwork and community can make a lasting difference both on and off the field.
Head Football Coach Billy Waters shared,
“We hosted our Tackle Cancer game to honor and support those affected by cancer. This event provided an opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to the cause and raise funds for important research and programs. Our booster volunteers did a wonderful job ensuring the event’s success. We are proud of our students, who work diligently both academically and in supporting our school and community.”
The Acton-Boxborough community once again proved that when athletes, students, and fans unite for a purpose, every cheer, every play, and every dollar raised helps make a lasting impact.
