Wear Purple for Danny is a meaningful community initiative created to honor the memory of Danny Mihnovich, a former Commack soccer player who left a lasting impact on those who knew him.
Each fall, friends, family, teammates, classmates, and community members come together at Commack High School for a special soccer game in Danny’s honor. The event celebrates his life while encouraging everyone to wear purple as a visible sign of remembrance and support.
This year, Wear Purple for Danny will also raise funds for the Danny Mihnovich Scholarship Fund while helping increase awareness and encourage important conversations about epilepsy and SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy).
Spearheaded by Jacob Weiss, the initiative also includes an educational social media campaign, purple shirt sales, and sponsorship opportunities to help expand its impact.
Wear Purple for Danny is a powerful example of how one community can come together through sports, education, and service to honor a life, support a family, and ensure Danny’s legacy continues to make a positive difference.
