About:
At Sachem North High School, the Interact Club continues to shine as a powerful example of students leading with compassion, dedication, and community pride. Their daily commitment to maintaining the school’s community pantry has become a cornerstone of support for families in need — a true labor of love that extends far beyond the walls of the building.
The pantry requires constant sorting, stocking, and organizing, and this remarkable group of students steps up every single day to make it run seamlessly. Their teamwork ensures that shelves stay full, families receive weekly grocery support, and urgent needs are met without hesitation. The demand has grown significantly, but the club’s collective effort has grown right alongside it.
This fall, the Interact Club also spearheaded the district-wide STUFF-A-BUS initiative, jumping on a bus to collect donations from all 15 district schools. What unfolded was nothing short of extraordinary. Schools turned the effort into pep-rally–style celebrations, complete with bands, orchestras, cheerleaders, and athletes cheering the mission forward. Students across the district witnessed firsthand how impactful community service can be — proof that when many hands come together, light work and big change follow.
Beyond their pantry efforts, the Interact Club has had a busy and meaningful year. In September, they hosted a moving 9/11 remembrance ceremony, bringing the Sachem community together in reflection and unity. They participated in the school’s Breast Cancer Awareness Walk, created a spooky dance-party experience for Safe Halloween, collected food at elementary Trunk or Treat events and football games, and ran a successful SOCKTOBER drive led by student Nick Golding to support local homeless shelters.
Most recently, the club organized a heartfelt Veterans Day flag display, honoring those who have served and reminding students of the importance of gratitude and remembrance.
Through every project, every collection, and every act of kindness, the Sachem North Interact Club continues to embody the true spirit of service. Their passion, leadership, and unwavering commitment make the Sachem community proud — proving once again that when students lead with heart, meaningful and lasting impact follows.
