About:
In continuation of the goals set by players last spring to increase volunteerism and become more visible in the community, KoMet Football took meaningful action to kick off winter break with service.
On Monday, December 22, the first day of winter break, senior leaders Miles Bungum, Grady Babcock, Jeremiah Peterson-Gordon, and Connor Horning volunteered their time ringing bells for the Salvation Army from 9:00–11:00 a.m. at Hy-Vee in Kasson.
Shoppers were greeted not only by familiar faces from the KoMet football program, but also by plenty of holiday cheer. The group reportedly sang Christmas carols loud and proud, spreading smiles, laughter, and festive spirit throughout the morning. Community members clearly enjoyed seeing the young men giving back in such a joyful way.
The impact did not go unnoticed. Dodge County Salvation Army bell-ringing coordinator Tanya Young later shared that she had received many positive messages about the group. In a Facebook message to a parent, she wrote, “Your son and his crew brought so much Christmas spirit to everyone around them this morning!”
This experience, organized entirely by the players themselves, reflected the leadership, initiative, and heart of the KoMet Football program. Moments like these show that the KoMets are committed not only to success on the field, but also to making a positive difference in their community—one smile, one song, and one act of service at a time.
