The LS Girls Basketball program brought community connection and purpose together on game day by hosting a special Youth Night and Cancer Awareness Fundraiser during their matchup against C-C.
The evening welcomed younger players into the gym, giving them the chance to cheer on the team and feel part of the larger LS basketball family. At the same time, the program dedicated the night to raising awareness about the impact of cancer on their community—and communities everywhere—encouraging fans to wear purple in a show of solidarity.
The event featured a JV game at 4:30 p.m., followed by the Varsity matchup at 6:00 p.m., creating an energetic and meaningful atmosphere throughout the night. Student-athletes, coaches, and supporters worked together to ensure the event made a real impact both on and off the court.
As part of the Charity Night Fundraiser, the team sold custom lavender T-shirts and hosted a concessions and donations table. While last year’s focus centered specifically on brain cancer, this year’s event expanded to raise awareness for all types of cancer. Through these efforts, LS Girls Hoops proudly donated more than $1,200 to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
By combining youth engagement with cancer awareness, LS Girls Basketball demonstrated leadership, compassion, and a strong commitment to service. Events like this highlight the positive influence student-athletes can have when they use their platform to inspire, connect, and give back—proving that some of the most meaningful victories happen beyond the scoreboard.
