About:
The Mount Pleasant Ice Cats Hockey Team is proud to represent a unique and diverse collaboration of student-athletes from Westlake, Pleasantville, Valhalla, Briarcliff, and Hastings. United by their love of the game, the Ice Cats have built a program that emphasizes not only teamwork and sportsmanship on the ice, but also meaningful service and leadership within the broader community.
At the heart of the team’s community impact is its annual “Pink the Rink” event, a special tradition dedicated to raising awareness and funds in the fight against breast cancer. Each year, players, coaches, and families work together to organize this powerful night, which honors survivors, remembers loved ones lost, and brings the hockey community together for a cause greater than the game itself. Through donations, fundraising initiatives, and fan engagement—including the ever-popular intermission “Chuck-a-Puck” game—Pink the Rink has raised thousands of dollars to support breast cancer research, treatment, and local organizations.
More than a fundraiser, Pink the Rink serves as a meaningful reminder of the importance of unity, compassion, and shared responsibility. By drawing together members of multiple school communities, the Mount Pleasant Ice Cats demonstrate that service transcends rivalries and boundaries. Their commitment to giving back reflects the true spirit of interscholastic athletics and embodies the values celebrated by Mount Pleasant Community. Through their continued efforts, the Ice Cats have made a lasting impact both on and off the ice, setting an example of leadership, empathy, and community involvement for student-athletes across New York State.
