Carle Place High School students are making a difference in their community through volunteer work, fundraising and participation in service initiatives that support important causes.
Members of the CPHS girls’ soccer team participated in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk at Jones Beach on Oct. 18, where they joined thousands to raise awareness and support individuals and families affected by breast cancer. The team raised $1,655.38 for the American Cancer Society and came together to support a cause that impacts many of the participants’ family members and friends.
Carle Place Key Club members have also been actively giving back through a variety of service opportunities. In addition to participating in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk, students volunteered at NAMIWalks Queens/Nassau at Eisenhower Park on Oct. 17 to support mental health awareness, education and advocacy. They also collected nonperishable food items at a local Stop & Shop alongside the Kiwanis Club of County Seat, Mineola, and volunteered at SEPTA’s Shred-a-Thon.
Through these efforts, CPHS students are demonstrating the importance of community involvement and the impact that can be made when people come together to support others. Their dedication to service reflects the Carle Place community’s commitment to making a difference.
