About:
Students in the East Syracuse Minoa High School National Honor Society recently stepped up to help address a critical need by organizing the second of three planned blood drives in partnership with the New York Blood Center.
Held on February 26, the blood drive welcomed participation from students aged 16 and older as well as faculty and staff. Through their collective effort, the school community donated 41 pints of blood, helping replenish supplies that had been significantly impacted after a blizzard forced the New York Blood Center to cancel several blood drives across Long Island.
The initiative highlights the leadership and service commitment of National Honor Society students, who organized and supported the event to help ensure that hospitals and patients continue to receive the blood donations they depend on.
Blood drives like this play an essential role in supporting individuals who require transfusions for surgeries, medical treatments, accidents, and other emergencies. Each donation has the potential to help save multiple lives, making the students’ efforts especially meaningful.
The ESM National Honor Society plans to continue its impact with a third and final blood drive scheduled for May 1, 2026, giving the school community another opportunity to come together and support this life-saving cause.
Through initiatives like this, ESM students continue to demonstrate how leadership, compassion, and service can make a lasting difference in their community.
