About:
Students at Sachem High School North are once again bringing color, culture, and compassion to their school community through the return of the annual Pulsera Sale, organized by the school’s Interact Club.
During the two-week event, students are selling vibrant, handmade bracelets known as pulseras along with small handwoven bags called bolsitas. Each item is crafted by artisans in Nicaragua and sold as part of the Pulsera Project, a nonprofit initiative that connects schools in the United States with artists in Central America.
Pulseras are sold for $5, while bolsitas are available for $15, giving students and staff an opportunity to purchase unique pieces of wearable art while supporting a meaningful cause. The proceeds help provide fair wages for artisans and support community programs focused on education, housing, healthcare, and youth development in Nicaragua.
Throughout the sale, the halls of Sachem High School North are filled with color and creativity as students select their favorite designs and learn more about the global impact of their purchases.
By hosting the Pulsera sale each year, members of the Interact Club raise awareness of global communities and empower students to make a difference through simple acts of support.
Initiatives like this highlight how student-led service projects can connect local schools with global causes, fostering cultural awareness, compassion, and positive impact worldwide.
