About:
Students at Vanderbilt Elementary School recently came together to help fight hunger through their annual Souper Bowl soup drive, organized by the school’s Student Council.
The initiative encouraged students and families to donate canned goods while participating in a friendly grade-level competition to see which group could collect the most items. The event not only promoted teamwork and school spirit but also highlighted the importance of helping those in need.
Thanks to the generosity of the Vanderbilt community, the drive resulted in more than 26 packed boxes of donated food. The donations will support multiple local soup pantries, helping provide meals and resources for individuals and families facing food insecurity.
By turning a simple collection into a spirited schoolwide effort, students learned how small acts of generosity can create a meaningful impact in their community.
Through initiatives like the Souper Bowl drive, the Half Hollow Hills Central School District community continues to demonstrate compassion, leadership, and a commitment to helping neighbors in need.
