About:
Students at Robert M. Finley Middle School in Glen Cove demonstrated the power of kindness and community service by raising $500 to support Glen Cove Cares through a student-led cancer awareness fundraiser.
Members of the school’s Student Council and National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) joined forces to organize the initiative, bringing students, staff, and families together in support of an important cause.
Students Turn Creativity into Community Impact
With a mission to make a difference, students sold pink lemonade, loom bracelets, lanyards, and stickers to raise funds and promote cancer awareness.
The initiative gave students an opportunity to demonstrate leadership, creativity, and compassion while encouraging their school community to support those affected by cancer.
Thanks to the generosity of students, staff, and families, the fundraiser successfully raised $500 for Glen Cove Cares, an organization serving the local community.
A Community Comes Together
The success of the fundraiser was made possible through the support of the entire school community.
Special recognition goes to the parent donors who contributed to the initiative, Sue Stanco, who generously donated the pink lemonade, and advisor Tania Polansky, who helped organize the meaningful event.
Their combined efforts helped turn a simple idea into an opportunity for students to give back and support others.
Making a Difference, One Act of Kindness at a Time
The Robert M. Finley Middle School Student Council and National Junior Honor Society demonstrated that making a positive impact doesn’t require a grand gesture. Sometimes, small acts of kindness can come together to create meaningful change.
By working together to support cancer awareness, these students showed how youth leadership, generosity, and community involvement can make a lasting difference.
