About:
Students from St. Michael-Albertville High School turned Halloween into an opportunity to give back through their annual Trick or Can initiative, collecting thousands of food items to support families in need.
With the generosity of the STMA community and the dedication of National Honor Society (NHS) students, the Halloween food drive collected an impressive 2,799 food items, weighing a total of 2,580 pounds, all donated to the Hanover Food Shelf.
Turning Halloween Into an Opportunity to Give Back
Rather than focusing solely on traditional Halloween festivities, STMA National Honor Society students used the occasion to make a meaningful difference in their community.
Through the Trick or Can initiative, students encouraged donations of nonperishable food items, bringing together local residents in support of neighbors facing food insecurity.
The overwhelming response demonstrated the generosity of the STMA community and the positive impact young people can make when they unite around a shared cause.
Nearly 2,600 Pounds of Food Donated
The initiative resulted in an outstanding collection of 2,799 donated items, totaling 2,580 pounds of food.
All donations were delivered to the Hanover Food Shelf, helping support its efforts to provide food assistance to individuals and families in the surrounding community.
STMA Athletics publicly thanked the participating National Honor Society students and community members for their generosity and commitment to helping others.
Students Making a Difference Beyond the Classroom
The success of Trick or Can highlights the importance of student leadership, volunteerism, and community involvement.
By dedicating their Halloween evening to supporting a local food shelf, STMA students demonstrated how a simple idea can create a significant impact.
Their efforts serve as a wonderful example of young people taking initiative and bringing their community together to help those in need.
