Accompsett Elementary School students laced up and raised $1,538.43 on Sept. 27 for the nonprofit Solving Kids’ Cancer.
Throughout Smithtown Central School District, students and faculty members wore gold shoelaces as part of the organization’s Lace Up for Kids campaign.
This is the fourth year Accompsett Elementary School Principal Tim Hellmuth has invited students to participate in “changing kids’ lives” by generously donating coins.
Principal Hellmuth said this year’s total is the largest ever.
