About:
Wear Purple for Danny is a community initiative created to honor the memory of Danny Mihnovich, a former Commack soccer player whose life had a lasting impact on so many people.
The initiative brings the community together through soccer and the simple act of wearing purple in Danny’s honor. This fall, as has been done each year since Danny passed away, a community soccer game will be held at Commack High School, creating an opportunity for friends, family, teammates, classmates, and community members to come together, remember Danny, and celebrate his life.
This year, the event will also help raise funds for the Danny Mihnovich Scholarship Fund, while raising awareness and encouraging meaningful conversations around epilepsy and SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy). Purple shirts will be available for purchase leading up to the event, and everyone is encouraged to wear purple as a visible sign of support and remembrance. In addition, Jacob Weiss, who is spearheading the effort has created an educational campaign on social media and sponsorship opportunities.
Wear Purple for Danny is about bringing people together, honoring Danny’s memory, supporting his family and the causes that matter, and making sure his legacy continues to have a positive impact in the community.
