About:
Wear Purple for Danny is a community initiative created to honor the memory of Danny Mihnovich, a former Commack soccer player whose life had a lasting impact on so many people.
The initiative brings the community together through soccer and the simple act of wearing purple in Danny’s honor. This fall, as in the past, a community soccer event will be held at Commack High School, creating an opportunity for friends, family, teammates, classmates, and community members to come together, remember Danny, and celebrate his life.
With the drive of current CHS soccer goalkeeper and IB diploma candidate, Jacob Weiss, this year's soccer game will help raise funds for the Danny Mihnovich Scholarship Fund, while raising awareness and encouraging meaningful conversations around epilepsy and SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy). Purple shirts will be available for purchase leading up to the event, and everyone is encouraged to wear purple as a visible sign of support and remembrance.
Wear Purple for Danny is about bringing people together, honoring Danny’s memory, supporting his family and the causes that matter, and making sure his legacy continues to have a positive impact in the community.
