The Bayport-Blue Point School District marked National First Responders Day on Oct. 28 with its third annual celebration, welcoming local emergency personnel into schools across the district.
Representatives from the Suffolk County Police Department’s fifth precinct, Bayport Fire Department, Blue Point Fire Department and Community Ambulance visited with students and staff throughout the day. The visits gave students an opportunity to meet the individuals who serve their community and learn more about the roles they play in keeping residents safe.
Students personally showed their appreciation by presenting first responders with handmade cards and messages of thanks during their visits. The district also recognized its school security personnel for their continued commitment to maintaining a safe environment for students and staff.
