Connetquot High School students reached out to the community in a number of ways this Thanksgiving, making the holiday special for struggling community families.
The Interact Club, in conjunction with the Connetquot Teachers’ Union, held a coat drive throughout the month of November. Many Town of Islip residents will stay warm due to the generosity of donors.
The Helping Hands Club also collected food and assembled Thanksgiving baskets for community families in need. They also crafted handmade cards to accompany each basket, spreading cheer during the holiday.
Additionally, the Ronkonkoma Middle School Peer Leaders and Student Council collected food for local families at Options for Community Living in Ronkonkoma. Thanks to the students and with the help of the Connetquot Teachers’ Union and faculty donations, baskets with a full Thanksgiving meal were gifted to those families in need.
