In honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, the Daniela Conte Foundation (DCF) rallied the community and the Suffolk County School District’s Athletics Program throughout September to advocate for children battling cancer through its annual “Go Gold Shoelace Campaign”. With a mission to increase awareness and accelerate funding for research and treatment development, the DCF engaged schools across Suffolk County to spotlight the reality of underfunded pediatric cancer. Students ignited powerful conservation to bring awareness to childhood cancer. In total, they raised over $10,000 this year which included 40 schools across Suffolk County and 15 youth sports teams.
The impact of pediatric cancer diagnosis is profound, taking a toll on the financial and emotional well-being on the whole family. Their support has been a shining beacon, enabling us to assist these families when they need it the most so that they can focus on what’s most important – the health of their child.
“We are incredibly grateful to our community and schools who came together to support this cause,” said Katia Conte, President/Co-Founder of the Daniela Conte Foundation. “This September, we made a significant impact in increasing awareness for childhood cancer that doesn’t receive the attention it deserves.”
This year alone, 15,000 American children will be diagnosed with childhood cancer, and each one of them deserves a fair chance at recovery. Statistics reveal that many childhood cancer families are forced to make treatment decisions based on financial constraints rather than optimal outcomes. It’s a stark reality that underscores the urgent need for change and the importance of spreading awareness. At DCF, we are dedicated to working toward a future where no parent must weigh the costs of a bill against the life-saving treatment their child needs.
As the end-of-year giving season approaches, DCF invites the community to stay committed to ensuring that families facing a cancer diagnosis have the resources, support, and hope they need. To learn more and on how to get involved, visit their website at www.danielacontefoundation.org
