Deer Park High School juniors Tiffany Bala and Kayley Eising spearheaded an annual toy drive last year, and continued their endeavor this year, collecting approximately 800 toys over that span.
After witnessing their friends’ parents lose their jobs due to the pandemic, they saw a need to help less fortunate children in the Deer Park community. Once again, they partnered with the Anthony DeNoyior Memorial Foundation, to collect toys for children in the local community as well as Nassau and Suffolk County Toys for Tots. Together with the foundation’s head, Stacy DeNoyior, Bala and Eising planned and executed a very successful drive, collecting more than 500 toys.
The charity was created to honor DeNoyior, who died due to COVID early in the pandemic. A Suffolk County auxiliary police captain who volunteered 20 years of service to the Deer Park community, he was known for his passion in helping the less fortunate.
“Kayley and Bala are setting the stage for our students and future leaders through their compassion and care for people,” DeNoyior said. “They are setting positive examples for their student peers.”
