Members of the East Rockaway School District gathered at Eisenhower Park on Oct. 5 to walk alongside senior Nico Rivera, who was honored as this year’s grand marshal for the Walk to End Epilepsy.
This honor is a tribute to the work and devotion Nico and his family have shown in raising awareness and funds for epilepsy research. Team Nico raised more than $2,000 this year for EPIC Long Island, a nonprofit agency serving families of loved ones with epilepsy.
Nico advocated for those with epilepsy through Teens Speak Up, a national advocacy program through the National Epilepsy Foundation, and has lobbied on Capitol Hill through the group. He plans to continue his efforts this year in Albany.
The district is proud of Nico’s dedicated efforts to this cause.
