About:

On Sept. 9, the Cold Spring Harbor Central School District and community came together during a “Friday Night Lights” and 9/11 Remembrance event held at Cold Spring Harbor Jr./Sr. High School. The event, which took place prior to the football game against the Island Trees Bulldogs, was held to remember the tragic events that took place on Sept. 11, 2001.

“Our community takes great pride in commemorating this day as a sign of solidarity and a reminder that we should not take for granted the freedoms we are granted in this country,” Superintendent of Schools Jill Gierasch said. “It is an honor to be a part of this 9/11 remembrance event with my fellow administrators and the greater Cold Spring Harbor school community.”

The football field was filled with pride, patriotism and emotions as the cheerleaders and football players carried American flags and a huge flag was unfurled during the ceremony. The district honored all first responders in attendance, joined by fellow community members and friends, to open the 2022 football season and share in a special remembrance of those who lost their lives and the heroes, past and present.
