About:

For the eighth straight year, the Adelphi University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will be raising awareness of breast cancer this October with the Jennifer Montgomery Breast Cancer Awareness month event. During the month long event, there will be raffle tickets and “Think Pink” merchandise to raise money and awareness for the cause. All proceeds collected will be donated to the New York Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline. The 2014 Think Pink campaign generated nearly $4,000 which brings the University’s total contribution to over $31,500.

Wednesday, October 8 will mark the official start of the event and will get underway with the annual Kickoff event at 10:45am on the indoor jogging surface in the Center for Recreation and Sports. At this time, the Athletic Department welcomes the staff and kids from the Early Learning Center who enjoy several laps around the track. At 11am, the event is open to students, staff, administrators and the entire Adelphi community. The cost of the walk is $3 for faculty and #1 for students, after walking 5 or more laps each participant will receive Adelphi Breast Cancer Awareness shoelaces and five raffle tickets.

The student-athletes will be doing their part as well by they wear “Think Pink” patches during their “Think Pink” games, which will be October 18 for men and women’s soccer and volleyball and October 25 for Field Hockey.

In addition, raffle tickets will be sold on various dates in the University Center, while the prize drawing will be in early November. Raffle tickets can also be purchased at the front desk of the Athletic Department in the Center for Recreation and Sport beginning on Wednesday, October 1 a complete list of the raffle prizes will also be released at a later date.

Saturday, October 18
Volleyball vs. St. Michael’s College at 1pm (Think Pink Game)
Women’s Soccer vs. Saint Anselm College at 3pm (Think Pink Game)
Men’s Soccer vs. Franklin Pierce University at 6pm (Think Pink Game)

Saturday, October 25
Field Hockey vs. Stonehill College at 1pm (Think Pink Game)
