We are thrilled to announce the second annual Joe Killeen Foundation fundraiser, a heartwarming event that brings together students, faculty, and the community to honor the memory of beloved athletic trainer, Joe Killeen. Joe’s dedication to Bethpage and its student-athletes left an indelible mark, and his passing from pancreatic cancer last fall deeply affected the Bethpage Community. This fundraiser not only supports future Bethpage student-athletes but also contributes to vital cancer research.
A Legacy of Support and Empowerment
Joe Killeen was more than just an athletic trainer; he was a mentor, a friend, and a source of unwavering support for many of the students. His passing was a difficult time, but it also brought the community closer together. Creating a foundation in his name has been incredibly empowering for the students, giving them a way to honor his legacy and continue his mission of support and encouragement.
Join Us for the Big Game
The highlight of this year’s fundraiser is a co-ed flag football game that will take place on Tuesday, June 11th, at 4 PM, at the Bethpage High School field. In a unique twist, both the tackle football team and the flag football team have combined forces to participate in this special event. The game promises to be a fun and spirited competition, showcasing the talents and teamwork of our students.
Community Involvement
The event will feature an announcer to keep everyone engaged and informed throughout the game. Additionally, the sophomore class student government club will be selling refreshments, with all proceeds going towards the foundation. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to get involved, support a great cause, and enjoy some delicious snacks.
Leading the Charge
The teams will be led by Kyle Shanahan and Ralph Tocco. They are both deeply committed to making this event a success and honoring Joe’s memory in the best way possible. We invite everyone in the community to come out, show their support, and enjoy an afternoon of fun and camaraderie.
How You Can Help
Your participation and support are crucial to the success of this fundraiser. Whether you’re a student, parent, alumni, or community member, your presence will make a difference. If you can’t attend, consider making a donation to the Joe Killeen Foundation to help us continue supporting student-athletes and advancing cancer research.
Let’s come together once again to celebrate Joe Killeen’s legacy and make this year’s fundraiser a resounding success. See you on the field!
