Sandwich High School multi-sport standout Maddie Brown has put together a couple of special event themes for the Sandwich High School softball team in the coming days.
Brown, who has served as a captain for both the volleyball and softball teams, organized and headed the Blue Knights’ Autism Awareness softball game, which will be today at 3:30 PM at SHS, leveraging athletics to promote understanding and inclusion in the community and raise funds for the school’s Best Buddies Club. The team will take on local rival Upper Cape Tech.
Brown, who plays third base for the Knights and hits in the clean-up spot, has also planned a Mental Health Awareness game set for May 8. That day, the Knights will host Monomoy High School.
Brown will continue her academic and athletic journey at theUniversity of Rhode Island, where she plans to study kinesiology in the College of Health Sciences. She has also been accepted into the university’s accelerated master’s program on the doctor of physical therapy track, and plans to play club softball and volleyball.
