About:
The girls’ lacrosse team had a fantastic day as they partnered with the players of the Tri-Village Challenger League.
Challenger baseball is a local program designed to meet the needs of children with physical or mental disabilities. It caters to players aged 4-18, or up to age 22 if still enrolled in school. The Tri-Village Challenger Division welcomes all kids from the Capital District and neighboring areas that lack a Challenger Division. This program provides a supportive sports environment where players can thrive, learn, and have a great time. The three core rules are simple:
- Be Safe
- Have Fun
- Everyone gets to play ball!
Initiated by Mike and Robin Mitchell, the Challenger baseball program emphasizes inclusivity and enjoyment. The Bethlehem Boys Varsity baseball team also volunteers weekly, contributing to the success of this program. On May 19th, the girls’ lacrosse team, comprising 23 members, had the opportunity to participate. Regular volunteers from the Bethlehem Boys Varsity baseball team also joined in. High school athletes were paired as buddies with Challenger baseball players, working together to navigate two innings of baseball, ensuring everyone had the chance to bat and run the bases.
Both the boys’ baseball and girls’ lacrosse teams found immense joy in sharing their love for athletics with the Challenger baseball players. The day was filled with smiles as athletes from all three teams bonded over their shared passion for the sport.
