About:
Caledonia-Mumford’s JV and Varsity volleyball teams created a memorable and meaningful evening during their annual Dig Pink game against Letchworth. The night blended spirited competition with heartfelt moments, reinforcing the program’s commitment to supporting breast cancer awareness and honoring those affected by the disease.
Before the Varsity match, the Raiders held a touching ceremony to recognize breast cancer survivors and to remember loved ones lost to the illness, presenting each family with a pink carnation. The gym was filled with emotion, energy, and unity as the community rallied around an important cause.
The event also raised more than $1,200 through raffles, concessions, and student-led efforts, with proceeds benefiting the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester. Numerous partners contributed to the evening’s success, including Curbside Quesadillas for concessions, Justice Flowers for providing the carnations, generous volleyball parents who organized gift card raffles, and students Tori Stahl and Zoey Amorese, who raised over $120 by making and selling pink bracelets. Letchworth Volleyball also played a vital role by joining the Raiders for this annual tradition and adding to the positive spirit of the night.
The Raiders capped off the celebration by honoring senior Colleen Talty during Senior Night, celebrating her dedication and contributions to the program. The Varsity match itself delivered all the intensity fans could hope for, with Cal-Mum fighting back from two sets down to force a fifth. Despite falling in the final set, the effort and sportsmanship from both teams made it a thrilling contest.
Caledonia-Mumford moves to 9–8 and looks ahead to closing out the regular season at Elba. The program extends its gratitude to Coach Harmon, the coaching staff, the parents, and everyone who filled the stands to support the cause and the team.
The Raiders once again showed that Dig Pink is more than a game. It is a tradition built on compassion, community, and the shared determination to make a meaningful impact.
