About:
The basketball program recently demonstrated a strong commitment to community service by participating in several volunteer initiatives throughout the fall and winter, making a meaningful impact on both local seniors and families in need.
The team completed two community service sessions at Tappan Zee Manor, a local senior center, on October 5 and December 22, 2025. During both volunteer opportunities, which took place from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., student-athletes assisted staff members, engaged respectfully with residents, supported group activities, and helped set up and clean shared spaces. Their efforts contributed to creating a safe, welcoming, and positive environment for the senior community.
In addition to supporting seniors, the program also participated in a food drive and donation drop-off at the Clarkstown Family Resource Center on November 12, 2025. From 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., athletes helped collect donated food items, organize and sort contributions, and assist with delivering essential goods to help local families facing food insecurity.
Most recently, the basketball program continued its give-back efforts by hosting a joint practice with the district’s middle school program. This initiative focused on mentoring and encouraging younger student-athletes while helping to strengthen the connection between programs and support the development of future team members.
In total, the team completed approximately 10 hours of community service. Beyond the direct impact on the community, these experiences helped strengthen team unity. By working together in service-oriented settings, players built trust, improved communication, and developed greater empathy for others. The shared commitment to giving back fostered meaningful bonds and reinforced a team-first mindset that has carried over into practices and games throughout the season.
