About:
The CPHS Baseball program is showing that leadership, resilience, and teamwork extend well beyond the baseball diamond. After an intense opening week that featured daily 5:00 AM tryouts and practices, members of the Rebels varsity team dedicated their time to meaningful service initiatives that created both local and global impact.
Following a demanding schedule that had players boarding the bus at 4:55 AM each morning to travel to the Dome, the team continued to demonstrate outstanding commitment by volunteering with Feed My Starving Children in Coon Rapids. There, student-athletes worked together to pack 153 boxes of meals to support individuals and families facing food insecurity around the world. In addition to learning more about global hunger, the experience helped strengthen team bonds while providing valuable perspective on the importance of service and gratitude.
The Rebels carried that same positive energy into the following day by hosting two youth baseball clinics for children in grades K–8. Each session welcomed 48 young athletes eager to kick off their baseball season. CPHS players led skill instruction, offered encouragement, and shared their passion for the game, creating a fun and inspiring environment for the next generation. Through mentorship and engagement, the team reinforced important values such as sportsmanship, leadership, and community connection.
Balancing early morning practices with service opportunities highlights the Rebels’ dedication to making a difference both on and off the field. By beginning their season with acts of service, CPHS Baseball has set a powerful tone for the months ahead — demonstrating that success is measured not only in wins and losses, but also in the positive impact student-athletes can have on others.
Reflecting on the experience, the coaching staff shared their pride in the team’s effort and attitude throughout a challenging week. From packing meals that will help families across the globe to inspiring local youth through baseball, the Rebels proved that hard work, compassion, and leadership go hand in hand.
