About:

Brookhaven, N.Y. – The women’s lacrosse team volunteered at the Laxin Against Eating Disorders Fall Lacrosse Tournament Sunday the 22th of September at Brookhaven Campus. The event was hosted by Just 4 Girls Lacrosse and Project Heal.

Protect HEAL and Just 4 Girls Lacrosse teamed up for the second consecutive year. The Golden Lions women’s lacrosse team assisted at the event with game operations, they were referees and assisted the participating teams so everybody had an unforgettable day.

“This is a great event to host at Dowling College. All the girls were eager to get it involvled with the cause with it being so near and dear to Coach Tom Carro’s heart. Overall, it was an amazing experience and we look forward to teaming up with these organizations again,” Head Coach Kerri McCabe.

Project HEAL was co-founded by three teenage girls. Liana Rosenman, Kristina Saffran, & Becky Allen met while undergoing treatment for anorexia nervosa, helped each other to reach full recovery, and then wanted to help others achieve it as well. In the spring of 2008, they founded Project HEAL to raise money for others suffering with eating disorders who want to recover but are unable to afford treatment.
