About:
At Horace Greeley High School, members of the “Greeley Growers” program turned their efforts into meaningful action by harvesting more than 100 heads of hydroponic lettuce—totaling an impressive 42 pounds. But this harvest wasn’t just about agriculture; it was about giving back.
The fresh produce was carefully packed and donated to the Mount Kisco Interfaith Food Pantry, helping provide nutritious food to families in need throughout the community.
This initiative highlights the power of hands-on learning combined with service. Through their work in the school’s hydroponic system, students not only gained valuable knowledge about sustainability and agriculture, but also experienced the importance of community responsibility.
Programs like Greeley Growers demonstrate that education goes far beyond the classroom. By connecting science, service, and compassion, these students are cultivating more than crops—they’re growing a culture of giving.
Their efforts serve as a reminder that when students come together with purpose, the results can nourish an entire community.
