About:
Since the spring of 2022, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to volunteer with a local nonprofit organization, Project Illuminate. The primary mission of Project Illuminate is to raise awareness about sun safety and melanoma prevention through advocacy efforts. Additionally, the organization empowers youth leaders to take initiative in their communities for any cause they find meaningful.
Through my involvement in various service projects, I’ve seen firsthand the positive impact that caring actions can have on others. Some of the initiatives I’ve contributed to include Cold & Flu Care Bags, Diaper Cakes for NICU Families, Halloween Treat Bags, and Pajama Pants & Fuzzy Sock Bags. All of these projects were designed to support pediatric patients receiving care at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital.
In addition to my work with Project Illuminate, I am a founding member of a student-led club at Ward Melville High School called T.E.A.M. W.A.R.D. (Targeting Emotional And Mental Wellness And Recovery Development). The group is made up of student-athletes dedicated to enhancing the athletic experience through mental health awareness and advocacy.
This year, I helped organize the Pre-Homecoming Parade table, where we provided information to students and families about Morgan’s Message, a national organization focused on the mental health of student-athletes. I also participated in a powerful initiative called “Inside the Mind of a Patriot,” a student panel organized by T.E.A.M. W.A.R.D. In this program, our club visited local junior high schools to share our experiences as student-athletes and offer advice and insight to younger students preparing for high school. It was an incredibly rewarding experience that allowed me to give back by supporting and encouraging the next generation.
