The Hawks Baseball Program is bringing its community together for a powerful cause with Hawks X-Out Cancer: Together for Teddie, a walk-a-thon and cornhole tournament dedicated to supporting childhood cancer research.
This year’s event holds special meaning for the program. The fundraiser honors Teddie, a young girl who was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor at an early age. Despite facing multiple rounds of chemotherapy and brain surgery, Teddie has shown extraordinary courage, strength, and resilience—continuing to inspire her family, the Hawks players, and everyone who knows her.
The Hawks Baseball community has already made a significant impact. Since 2024, players and families have raised $13,622 to support childhood cancer research. This year, the program is partnering with the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, with funds raised going directly toward research being conducted by Teddie’s doctor, Dr. Pratiti (Mimi) Bandopadhayay, Director of the Dana-Farber Pediatric Low-Grade Glioma Program.
Dr. Bandopadhayay leads groundbreaking research focused on pediatric brain tumors like the one Teddie is battling. The work being done through The Jimmy Fund is made possible largely through philanthropic support and is helping advance potential new therapies while improving outcomes for children facing these rare and complex cancers.
The Hawks X-Out Cancer event will take place on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 12:00–4:00 PM at Xaverian Brothers High School, where the community will gather for an afternoon of fun, connection, and purpose.
Participants can get involved in several ways:
-

-

-
Participate in silent auctions, opportunity drawings, and family-friendly activities
-

While Teddie’s story is at the heart of the event, the mission extends far beyond one family. By coming together as a community—walking, playing, and supporting—the Hawks Baseball Program hopes to help drive progress toward better treatments and, ultimately, cures for children battling cancer everywhere.
Organizers hope this event becomes the first of many annual gatherings, giving families and community members a chance to spend a meaningful day together while making a lasting impact.
Through teamwork, compassion, and community support, the Hawks Baseball Program is proving that athletics can be a powerful platform for making a difference.
