About:
Yesterday was a great day at the MacArthur baseball field. The Generals were joined by their friends from Plainview JFK for the 9th annual Autism Awareness Baseball game. For the past 9 years these two programs have come together to not only raise awareness but to help raise money for children living with autism. Prior to the game, the fiancé and family of former MacArthur General baseball player Anthony Mariano came onto the field with longtime friend and supporter of our game John Theissen. Anthony was a member of the 1994 state championship team and tragically 5 years ago was killed when a drunk driver struck his car. Since then, a foundation called the Skip Fund was created in his honor and they were our sponsors for the custom jerseys once again this year. There were ceremonial first pitches thrown by Mr. Mariano, along with two of our own students in the 5-star ABA program, Haley Causeman and Matthew D’Angelo. We were then treated to a singing of the national anthem by another one of our amazing students in the 5-star program, Stephanie Church.
After the pre-game ceremonies, the two t and competed in a great game. The Generals came out on top 7-6. Alec Aramini pitched 3 scoreless innings paving the way for Chase Palma to pick up the win. At the plate, Chris Kuks led the way with 2 hits and 2 RBI’s and Nick Albert added another 2 hits. It was truly a great day.
Special thank you to the MacArthur Dugout Club and the Martino family for all of their hard work getting the great raffle baskets and raising money for our great cause! Can’t wait til next year!
