About:

As a part of our school culture and mission, the soccer team has been involved in several community service opportunities each year. Over the years, we have volunteered with special needs athletes, wounded veterans, food pantries, the homeless etc. However, our “flagship” project has been our involvement with Making Strides Against Breast Cancer each season. Dating back to the 2013-14 season, Cadet Soccer has played a “Breast Cancer Awareness” game, raised donations for Making Strides and has participated in the walk in Albany. We reach out to local businesses for donations, have a raffle, sell tshirts to our whole school and of course play a game where we have special jerseys. Since its inception, we have raised over $50,000 for this cause. There have been several players/families over the years that have been the driving force behind this and at times they have single handedly breathed life into what has been accomplished. This year that individual is Ryan Trahan. His brother, Tyler, led the charge before that.

The entire soccer program along with their families are engaged in this fundraising event. This is typically around 70 players or more each year.
The hours vary by level, typically the average varsity player will put in 3+ hours, where as the younger players only around an hour or two.
Ryan Trahan puts in a ton of hours, probably more than 25 hours when it is all said and done.
We are currently in the middle of our tshirt stage. Our whole school can dress down (we have uniforms) to include the teacher every friday until Thanksgiving if they have purchased a tshirt. Ryan has received quite a few donations already as well. We are trying to plan for a socially distant walk at our school (rather than the walk in Albany) to help continue to raise awareness. The event will be put on our school’s social media.
