About:

Mynderse seniors running, as part of the Alessio Project, the “It’s A Wonderful Run 5k”

More about the Alessio project at thealessioproject.com

“I started this initiative a number of years ago with some small core groups.  The foundation of it all started with my own story..one of haven ending up on the wrong path in life – a path to addiction & alcoholism(Clean& Sober 17 years now).  So for starters I speak to Students in assemblies and full day events.   If you are interested in checking it out google –  “Alessio Project at Mynderse Senior High.”   My belief is that with the knowledge & coaching of a few Core Practices that kids can build a strong foundation to get them started out in the right direction with complete confidence.   My quick decription would be that the Alessio Project is an initiative to shape behavior & develop purpose by instilling the Core Values of Believing in Self, Importance of Action & the Power of Connection.   Hence..The Alessio Project..Believe..Act..Connect.

We meet in groups & have open discussion, we do study nights twice a week, fun events like Dart Nights, 5Ks, we had a Great Event a couple of years ago for a full day of Martin Luther King Day Education..   I also (pre-COVID) would go to the school for 1 day a month & hang out.  Kids talk to me, I do check ins & we discuss Obstacles and Challenges.

My plan is much bigger to spread the word on understanding different cultures, learning more deeply about communicating, the joy and benefits of fitness, nutrition, etc.   Just Great Life Skills that are often overlooked!  And we do it all with a lot of fun.
