About:

Amittyville, N.Y. – The members of the NYIT women’s basketball team took time away from their classes and practice to give back to the community. On Sunday, November 23, the Bears traveled to St. Martin of Tours Knights of Columbus Parish Center to assist in its Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser which is held every month by the church.

“It was rewarding to help give back to St. Martin’s of Tours church after all the hard work they do for the community,” said sophomore Shannon Duer. “We were glad to be able to help serve those who are constantly serving others.”

The women aided in setting up and decorating the event area. Pancakes, eggs, sausage and other breakfast items were cooked for the guests which also involved the help of the women’s basketball team. After the event, the Bears stayed behind to assist the church in the cleanup.

“Such a great experience!” said junior Dina Ragab. “It’s always fun to go back to St. Martin church and be a part of all the great work they provide for the community.”
