About:
The team, along with the 8U A Bronze Knights, participated in the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) walk in Einsenhower Park on October 23, 2022. Together both teams raised $4,900.00!
The team had a guest speaker educate players on what T1D was as well as speak about his personal experiences of fighting this disease.
Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease that strikes both children and adults suddenly. It has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle. There is nothing you can do to prevent it. And, at present, there is no cure.
When you have T1D, your body stops producing insulin—a hormone essential to turning food into energy. Managing the disease is a constant struggle that involves monitoring your blood-sugar level, administering insulin, and carefully balancing these insulin doses with your eating and activity.
The vision of JDRF is to find a cure and pursue new treatments to keep people with T1D healthy.
