About:
This season, the Pleasantville Field Hockey team is taking their commitment to the field to a new level by joining forces with The Break the Hold (BTH) Foundation, an organization dedicated to raising awareness about youth mental health. The partnership not only highlights the team’s dedication to physical excellence but also their deep concern for the mental well-being of their peers and community.
BTH was founded in memory of Brian Thomas Halloran, a former Pleasantville High School football player who tragically lost his battle with depression and anxiety in 2018. Since then, the foundation has worked tirelessly to break the stigma surrounding mental health, especially for young people. Through programs like DBT-STEPS-A, BTH provides middle and high school students with the emotional coping skills they need to better manage stress, anxiety, and depression.
On and off the field, the Pleasantville Field Hockey team is raising funds and awareness to support BTH’s mission. This season, one of their games will be dedicated to youth mental health, with proceeds going directly to BTH’s educational programs. Through this event, the team hopes to not only raise money but also foster a greater understanding among their peers about the importance of mental health awareness.
The Pleasantville community has always shown strong support for BTH, and the field hockey team is proud to be part of this ongoing effort. They encourage everyone to come out to their dedicated game to show support, raise awareness, and help contribute to this critical cause.
